The movie is about a young demi-god basically. His name, Perseus. A rather well-known name for those with an elaborate understanding about the Greek mythology. He is a well-known demi-god who helped mankind in a war against the Gods. Yeah, I know. Why help Men to fight Gods right? So out of mind here. I mean, he had the blood of gods in his veins, but not the brains of god too? Why help the helpless to fight against immortals? Well...He didn't really had a choice. His dad, Zeus? That dude was too arrogant. Impregnated a woman down on earth as a punishment for a king. IMAGINE THAT.
Anyways, Perseus was found by an old fisherman who welcomed him and cared for him until he was well, grown-up. Unfortunately, because of a certain incident where a huge statue of a god was destroyed and soldiers were killed along with that and well, his dad's ship was on the way and I guess the gods weren't so happy bout that, so he lost his entire foster family at that moment. Bet he wished he should have asked his foster dad to turn right instead of left back then."Oh dad, turn this ship to the right please...the statue is coming down..."
Well, I'm sure you guys have seen this picture of Zeus. Ain't he the most sparkling thing since the Koh-I-Noor diamond? Well, honestly speaking...Liam Neeson did a great job being Zeus. But Zeus didn't do a good job being a father. Yeah. Is it always going to be like this for now? Everyone is gonna make gods not being good role models for parenthood? Speaking of which...Zeus in this show is definitely much better looking than the post-modern Zeus in Percy Jackson. I mean, the beard, man...it's gotta be a fashion statement for this dude. No good beard, no good Zeus that makes.
Well now, we come to this dude. Guess his name. He's Zeus' lil' bro. He loves black, darkness and hatred. He feeds on fear and human weakness. He controls the Kraken, apparently although it is said that no one controls the Kraken at all. What? He too is a better version of Hades compared to Miss Percy's Hades. I mean come on, he looks totally more terrifying compared to that Hades in Percy Jackson. He does better tricks than Hades in Lightning Thief. He's much more devious here too. I enjoyed alot watching this dude just planning out his entire huge mastermind plan to dethrone his brother and then fail in the end. It's just so exciting.
Yeah. Here is our hero, Perseus. To refresh back, He lost his family to the gods. So he helps the humans to fight them back. But the gods said "You will not defeat me!!", and decided that they have been angered and will release the Kraken when the moon decides to eat up the sun on a lovely day. So Perseus has no choice but to find a way to defeat the Kraken because he is the chosen one or else the lovely princess is gonna be sacrificed to the huge-overly exaggerated creature of the sea. And to who does he find for advice? These three lovely ladies in the picture above. Yeah. All are without eyes to see. Only one to be shared among themselves. Imagine having to go toilet. By the way, they have like sagging boobs...absolutely hairless...but can fight for their dear lives. Watch these old women-like creatures fight for their cookies. They won't be sharing any I betcha that.
Oh! Here is one picture of father and son. Or in other words, the "I-finally-realized-my-mistake-and-want-to-make-up-my-absence-with-a-gold-coin" father and the "I'm-sorry-but-I-don't-acknowledge-you-as-my-dad-but-thanks-for-the-presents" son. Look at how Zeus dressed down just for his son. How humble of him. This scene was after Perseus talked to the three sisters and found a way to defeat the Kraken. He decided he can finally do something by himself and does not need the help from his immortal dad. Yay for him. Independence yo!
So, the story goes until where Perseus travels to the Underworld to fight the snake-haired long-tailed Medusa. Hisssss. She speaks the least but does the best punches in the show. She eliminated most of the entire masquerade who came to kill her except for Perseus. Yeah. The hero of the show, no wonder?Anyways, coming back. Medusa here looks absolutely splendid. With her long tail instead of two legs like the civilized Medusa in Lightning Thief, this version portrays the absolute genius of the true Medusa. In truth, the snakes in her hair shouldn't be too brightly coloured, she didn't have them dyed you know. And her arrow skills? Phenomenal. Right on the spot all the time for the other warriors except for Perseus of course. Her slithering sound, her rattling tail....It makes for a wonderful foe to defeat especially for someone like Perseus. Unlike the Uma Thurman rendition, it is a total bomb and a sight to behold while watching her glide around everywhere stoning people.
So, this is a shot from the battle with Medusa before she got her head sliced clean off her shoulders. After that, her body just went limp like you would if your head was off your shoulders. Wondering how that feels? Erm, stop. So, happily, Perseus walks out of the Underworld with the head. Wait, how does he get out? I wonder...
Anyways, he travels back to Argos just in time to see the Kraken slowly waving his tentacles everywhere without realizing he is breaking down walls like Lego. How does he travel back just in time? With his trusty horse of course. But not just any ordinary horse. It's the Pegasus. But not your mythologically correct version of pure white and lovely horse...It's total black. Looks like the Pegasuses are saying "black is the new white, y'all...". Though it may be black, it was still majestic looking and truth be told, I loved the horse. Totally.
So, cut the story short, while Perseus travels back to Argos, Zeus finds out he has been tricked by Hades. Zeus becomes weak. Hades laughs but finds out Perseus still alive. Travels down to kill him as well. But fails to do that in time. Perseus kills the Kraken with a freshly-chopped off head and ta-da...Hades goes T.T, forced back down to the Underworld. The story practically finishes here. Yeap.
Now if you guys wondering what happened to the scorpions part, just watch the show la. Cause those parts are the ones that makes the show worth your money. But to my opinion, please do not, I honestly mean DO NOT waste your extra money for the 3D version. It wasn't a spectacular 3D effect but it was a good show non-the-least. Just watch it at normal price. Would be the best choice, I can assure you. And also, I know there are alot of comparisons between this show and Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief, but please understand....THIS SHOW IS TOTALLY MUCH BETTER THAN THAT SHOW INDEFINITELY. Ignore the lame centaurs, the lame half man, half goats...This show takes the vote from me. Yeah!
Anyways, I do believe this show is gonna spark the curiosity for the Greek mythology again. Google is gonna see a jump for searches concerning "Titans", "Zeus" and whatever that has to do with "Perseus"....But for now, my story ends and I just have to say, I loved this show. I may have regretted paying extra for so little 3D effect but I did enjoy the storyline, which was probably billions years old already. Anyways, do catch the show with your friends. Hope you have a nice time watching.
Ciao.
